I've never found handling very predictable with unmatched tyres on any car, although I think some standard cars do it successfully. IIRC BMW springs to mind.

Wide, very low profile tyres tend to be a bit all or nothing, especially on loose / slimy surfaces. I normally prefer 205 width 16 inch tyres for winter as it saves having to watch the upcoming surface like a hawk when going along lanes.

I would try tweaking damper settings and see how you get on before abandoning nice wheels.

i were thinking about the damping adjustment today so i changed it to 12 clicks rear 10 clicks front and that was taking into considration that the front the shocks have the whole engine and box to deal with.then i changed the front camber to 2lines in for more neg camber an took it out for a flight. it felt better but it were icey so couldnt push hard. gona reset the tracking tomorrow an give it some stick.

With stiffer springs you are not getting the geometry change you used to and can lead to understeer.

With my Bilsteins (14kg/mm fr 7kg/mm rear) I can't go anywhere near std camber any more or I get loads of understeer. It really takes the corners now though!

It will take some reading but have a good look on the net......it will start t make sense and lose some of the black art-ness!!
