Quiet in here :-)

Has any one tried this and tried running a stock ecu?
how does it get on?
idle etc?

Im thinking of this until ems comes alog later in the year (2006)

Steve - take it you are fitting a 185 head?

iirc the 205 cam has a longer duration and a higher lift that the 185 setup.

As to benefits, every little helps, and this I think would only be of little benefit :(

If the head was off the car then no problem I would do this straight away if the cam was cheap enough, but to swap it out with the engine in, I wouldn't bother.

Have you thought about alternative cams, (but it does start to get expensive then) ?

Hi Kris, thanks for the reply.

Yes I'm using a st 185 cylinder head and thought while the engine was out the car...

Didn't really want to go down the route of bigger camshafts at this point, at least until I have a good ems.

I'm hoping the stock ecu will be fine with the st205 camshaft for running in purposes, it seems to keep just about with everything else that gets thrown at it :-)

Reckon it would be a good move Steve :) Especially since you can easily replace it whilst the engine is out :)

Lol! Yep, so far so good.

If you are thinking about lumpier cams then fitting aftermarket valve springs might be an idea at this "easy to fit" stage?

Hi Kris, tbh I don't think I will go for lumpier cams, with my limited knowledge all the power seems to shift up the rev range?

Steve - from what I have seen and learnt I would agree with you, the power "band" is shifted further up the rev range...

Will be interesting to see how you get on with swapping to a 205 inlet cam :)

Steve, or anyone, do you have the specs of the 205 cams?
Lift, duration, timing?

Ta.

ST205

Inlet
240 deg
8.7mm lift

Exhaust
236 deg
8.2mm lift

Note that the 205 has a slightly longer duration but also 0.5mm extra lift :)

Thanks for that.
Exactly what I needed.
