Good old google. You can get it at RS or probably any of your companies engineering suppliers.

ok so need some of those plastigauges then. With regards to fitting the pistons do i fit all the rings and then squeese them closed and insert the piston down the bore? Should this be lubricated? Im also guessing the conrod bolts are the stretch type too. So will need replacing correct?

Plastigauge:

Ring compressor - use plenty of oil - tighten onto piston to compress rings then push down into block.

Big end studs aren't stretch type but have been known to snap so consider arp's , especially if you're thinking of loads of high RPM running.

Just a thought, as its abit touch and go with this rebuild would it be a sensible idea to buy a stander ring set and refit my original pistons for a while. If the car runs ok with no probs i could then replace with some forgies. Just dont want to spend almost 700 all in and then find im at stage one still.

it will cost me about £70 for a ring kit. Plus the honing tool and plastigauges. Then bearings. All in all cheap enough to do as a check before an investment...

everything needed is on its way now. The honing tool comes with 180 grit stones, is this a suitable grade for deglasing? Also is there any preference to the ring ends position? Or do they just go on any way? Thanks
