Interesting info Kris (or should I say Malcolm!)

So the question arises:

If you can buy Mahle manufactured Cosworth designed pistons only direct from JUN why are Mahle advertising pistons under the Mahle Motorsports brand in the USA?

Considering these Mahle Motorsport branded pistons are not available to buy (yet) I sense there is still more to this than meets the eye.

Cosworth may have designed Jun's pistons but Mahle have their own performance division too. Hence the Mahle Motorsport pistons for sale in the USA. Mahle pistons themselves are likely to be high quality items

Thanks to "you know who" :)

Hmmm, with all these stated CR ratios which are worrying does anyone know if the Mahle jobbies are correect or 9.0:1 as all the others have screwed up with??

gary, i suspect the discount may be via buying away from ebay, thereby circumventing fees etc. thats my gut feeling anyway :)

Hummmmm I want a set

Specifications of the JUN Pistons

Engine: 3S-GTE
Bore: 87.0
Wgt: 355
Comp. Height: 35
Piston Crown Shape: ∪
Piston Crown Vol: -12.45
Valve Recession: -0.4
Piston Pins Wgt: 103
Piston Pins Diam: 22
Piston Rings Top: 1.5x3.3
Piston Rings 2nd: 1.5x3.7
Piston Rings Oil: 2.8x3.1
Compression Ratio: 8.3:1
Compression Gasket: 1.2

* Piston crown shape marks: [ ∧ ] Convex, [ &cup ] Concaved.
* All compression ratios are the reference values for you.

These look like the correct figures, I'm sure the 84mm is a misprint.

AFAIK no one has tried wet liners in a 3S-GTE and I don't even know if thats possible :?:

No one has managed to get dry liners to survive 500+bhp. I suspect there's some sort of differential expansion between the cast block and the spun steel liners which is causing them to fail.

Couldn’t see why it couldn’t be done don, just a case of getting the block machined away enough to expose the water galleys to the liners once they are pressed in… or am I looking at this too simply again :? :?
