st185. im using a larger rad i had in stock from another gt4 shell i had,i dunna know what make it is but its not alloy, looks like its been made from scratch, also ive moved the expansion tank to the drivers side under the plastic rad cover,so its in front of the rad an under the black plastic cover. but now the rad pushes out water from the expansion tank but it wont suck it back in when it cools?? im thinkin rad cap but it seems to seal ok,although it is one i got from halfrauds cos there wunna one with it.

I suspect it's a resevoir capacity problem

When you say water isn't sucked in do you mean

The resevoir is full but the rad is empty

or

The resevoir is empty and the rad is empty

How much is missing and how consistent is it?

With my triple core super dooper racing rad I find that the level in the radiator is always slightly low. It never changes though. What happens to me is the extra water in the extra thick core overflows the expansion when hot so some is never sucked back in. If I fill the rad the proces repeats

There are 2 ports on the lid of a 185 expansion tank. Make sure the rad is connected to the one that has a tube to the bottom of the bottle, and the one at the top goes to free air.

As per Chris.... the tube with perforated end down to the bottom of the expansion tank is an essential component. Is this present and correct? :D
