Hey guys,

I've just ditched my Air Con from the 205.

The two fans that are bolted on the back of the main radiator..... is one for the Aircon system?

I have a suspicion that the bigger one comes on to cool the water in the rad, but the other smaller one only comes on when the aircon pump is running.

Can anyone confirm for me please?

Im just wondering if its worth ditching the smaller fan if it isnt gonna do anything anymore - bit of weight to be saved!

could be wrong (often am) but on the 205 I believe both fans are engine fans. on my old 165 the ns fan was the aircon fan...and I think 185's are the same.

also believe 1 fan is enough for a 'regular' 205 but 2 is optimum. if you are worried about space or weight you could always replace with 1 or 2 slimline fans

sure someone else will come along and confirm soon enough

Cheers for the info. But i think i've managed to find the answer so i thought id share it on here.

The larger of the two fans appears on EPC as MOTOR, COOLING FAN.

The smaller fan is labelled up as FAN, COOLING FOR CONDENSER.

So i guess I'll pull that fan out tomorrow :)

Before pulling it out check to see if both run when you pull the plug on the thermostat in the bottom of the rad. If they do then both are used.
I think one is called aircon fan as it's the only one to run with aircon. A bit like the cam cover being called the rocker cover even though there are no rockers.
