I am in the process of making a rotisserie for the ST205. trouble is I need to know where the centre of gravity is so when I put the pivot point in the balance is neutral...I dont want to turn the car over to find I cant turn it back    Is it directly between the chassis beams???

It looks like it might be at the front, maybe about 6" above the chassis rails at the back???

If you get it wrong you can always bolt random bits back to the car to balance it up again :-)

Noooo don't do it. Wood is nasty.

One of the online places (www.themetalstore.co.uk) has 50x50x3mm x 6m for £52.85 ex VAT, and if you spend £70 (you'll need some tube to make the pivots?) then the shipping is free.

I did think about scaffold pole, but they seem to get weighed in these days instead of sold off cheap.

I need a more economical design as my idea uses 16 meters of square tube.

I would go for a design along the lines shown in Dons picture. 50mm x 100mm box should do the job I'd have thought and use the same for the cross piece between chassis members.

Can't believe how much steel has gone up. Good news for us owners of heavy cars though when we finally get sick of mending them.

6M of that is over £100. I could make a frame out of wood (the pivot point and bit that attaches to the car would have to be metal, but enough wood to make a suitable frame would cost me about £20.

OK I'm going to go against the grain here...literally ...wood ordered...less than £20 :-) may as well as I was ordering a fence panel to replace the one that blew down in the wind.

If it dosnt work out I can use it for something else.

I recon I can change the world with this....metal is just so expensive for something that will only get a small amount of use...the money I have saved can go towards something nice for the car.

or help pay off the repairs to the Skoda :-(

So, having got to the root of the matter, you're branching into new materials.
