Post subject:  Done the cam belt but....

I noticed from following the guide on here that my cams did not have the cut outs that align with end caps this wasnt a problem as i just went back to basics i was just wondering do some have them and some not ?

Oh right cheers for clearing that up kris well these where the originals that came in it from japan but i did not see any makers names on them just some numbers i will dig a little further..

some oem cams do not have cut outs ive seen a couple they have half the metal on the wide part of the cam too .

i think they could be later cams but no cut outs doesnt automaticly mean performance ones .

idealy you should determin they are on the marks before you take them off and mark them yourself for future referrence ;)

Yeah they are not the same as that kris even the nut parts look different, i just used the existing set up as a base and set the the hks gears both to zero marked everything up and replaced alike i even made a twin cam locking tool that locked both the 24mm nuts that are built in to the shafts which sat at diff positions to each other i did have a bit of trouble trying to get the crank pulley off my 500nm gun wouldnt budge it so i made a tool and used a 4ft 1" dr breaker ill add the pics of what i mean to my build thread cheers for the help i seem to be absolutely useless at researching on ta web :?

Have a rummage around in my st215 rebuild thread. You'll find pictures of st215/gen4 cams and the OEM cam numbers are in there too IIRC

That was a good heads up i enjoyed that read alot and a lot of things looked familiar i think what i will do is the rocker has to come back off so i will get some pics to divulge over,that did look like a one off good bay deal.
