Post subject:  Gear change

Hello,

I have a problem with changing gears. Most problems I have with the third gear. When engine is off I can change without problems from 1st - 5th with pressing clutch.

When engine is running, gears a hard to get in and most problems with 3rd gear. But this problem is only sometimes!

Complete clutch is not very old, max. 15.000km (ogura 409 i think)

Any ideas?

I would guess you have a little clutch drag.

Many aftermarket clutches require a little more travel than standard to fully disengage. This requires the pedal stop to be moved up and the master sylinder clevis adjusted a bit longer so you end up with more pedal travel.

A quick search on here for 'clutchmasters' should yeild more information on how to adjust.

p.s. If it was ok and now getting worse, it is worth checking the bolts holding the clutch onto the flywheel are still done up. You can access bolts on a standard flywheel by removing the starter motor. (I know a twin plate setup that had this problem, you could access via the hole for the release arm)
