Post subject:  HKS super AFR

My first post as a member so firstly, hello folks.

I have recently picked up an HKS super AFR and intended installing then booking in with Thor for it setting up.
Am I correct in presuming it can run with the 185 AFM and that it will control the fuelling across the rev range when running slightly higher than stock boost.
I only run 0.83 bar controlled via an HKS EVC3

The last point raises my next question, I also have an EVC 4 but cannot find out what enhanced features the 4 has over the 3, any one able to advise?
I have heard it records peak boost but thats because it is the silver model not the standard EVC 4

I'm not familiar with the HKS super AFR, but I believe one of the main features of the HKS EVC 4 was "fuzzy logic" which attempted to put some intelligence into the way in which the boost is controlled.

HKS ditched this feature in the EVC 5 which I run as it wasn't very good.

IMO if the EVC 3 is working fine and givving you stable boost then I don't really see much benefit in changing it.

Cheers :)

AFR? Not heard of this one?

Heard of the F-CON and VPC. Have you got any more details on this piece of electronic wizardry?

Oh, and welcome to the Club! :D

Thanks for the replies.

I have found a little info on the AFR and tracked this down which has photos and description

regards the EVC 4 I am presuming the fuzzy logic is used to enable the learning characteristics of the unit. The instructions for the EVC 3 also refer to fuzzy logic and the units capability to learn the turbos boost characteristics.
I suspect the enhancements might be more cosmetic than anything else.
Blast, its a nicer looking unit than the 3 and it cost me a few quid. Stick or twist :?:

Thanks Kris,
I can manage the install but the set up will be a job for THOR or similar (obviously  )

having reread the instructions it says that the rpm signal from the ECU needs to be 5v digital.

can anyone tell me if the 185 ECU rpm signal is digital or analogue?

dt4 - pretty sure that the output is a digital one, but I would measure this with a scope to me sure
