Hi,

I can see the advantages of the variable intake runner for low end torque and how it may affect top end power.

The Questionis though

Use it or Loose it.

on a rev 2 gen5 st185 with maybe 250BHP at the moment.

It is my understanding that the benefits outweigh the costs until you are looking for 350bhp plus.
However, that is, as far as I know, a popular conception rather than a statement backed up with facts.

I would love to see some back to back power graphs of a 185 with and without TVIS, but I think it is unlikely to happen.

We binned it on my 165, and never looked back.

Kris created a circuit for someone which made the TVIS variable, but I don't know whether the person he made it for ever fitted it or what the results were?

For 250hp, I'd use it...

There is a significant mis-match between the head. If the Head, TVIS plate and Intake manifold were all port matched that could see some gains?

the person in question did indeed fit it and set it so the butterflies opened lower than the general concensus of 4300rpm

wasnt me btw ;)

so why does the st 185 have it and the more powerful st205 does not?

does the 185 pull better than a 205 lower down?

just wondering as i will be upping the boost pressure, does the st185 dump boost when not moving and the engine is revved as i don't remmember seeing any boost on the gauge unless it was moving.

i junked mine, ported the head, port matched the rest..

better with out than with

having tvis will only help low down rpm.

apart from that its a restrictor.. :D

junk it midnight if you are going to use MS..

the 205 is a good example , they junked the afm, tvis, increased v-lift, showed power ouput gain..

did you junk the plate completely or do you need to mod it as on kris's other site and retain the plate?
