As part of my track toy project we are building a bespoke electrical loom (actually in three sections) and are re-using as many of the electrical connectors as possible but with new contacts.

I have the male/female part numbers for the plastic plugs but does anyone know where I can get hold of new metal connectors to fit into the plastic male/female housings?

Do you know who manufactures the plugs? Somewhere like Farnell might be able to help - they seem to be dealers for Tyco who make lots of this stuff.

I've updated the list with the link to Ballinger Motorsports and also New United Race Tech Inc. who list the Sumitumo TS terminal 2.3 type 90 which is one of the most common connectors used on the Celica GT-Four. They list the housings, terminals and seals. It seems that this is an old type of connector which has been superseded but hopefully they can still be sourced :|

I've found the following info on the Texas Supra forum (original link here: http://www.texassupras.com/viewtopic.php?f=34&t=156)

Unfortunately the links are all dead so I've removed them below but I think there's still some value in repeating the text.

"Connectors are grouped by the amount of pins in them, male or female, or/and weatherproof or non-weatherproof.
The part numbers on the connectors will not help you differentiate between the connectors.
Connectors always begin with 90980-#####. The last five are the numbers stamped on the connector. These connectors are not always serviceable. In other words, just because you have a part number doesn't mean your Toyota dealer can get them. If I can't get them, chances are very high that he will not be able to either.
Terminals always begin with a 82998-#####. Terminals only come from Toyota with a wire attached to it. The weatherproof connecters will also have a seal with them. You will get whatever colour wire they feel like supplying with it. The colour of wire will not be consistent with the mating terminal. In other words, the 2.3 II male terminal could have a black wire with a red stripe but the 2.3 II female terminal could have a yellow wire with a brown stripe on it.
Most connectors are made by Sumitumo electrical in conjunction with Toyota. The terminals are Sumitumo type TS. Most of the connections you'll find underhood are 2.3 II type. Sumitumo calls them 2.3mm type TS 90. The injectors, igniter, sensors, igniter, injector resistors etc. all use the 2.3 II. The terminals, seals and plugs can be purchased from Ballenger Motorsports site.
There is a cross-reference for the connector, type of terminal, quantity of cavities and availability/supply of the connectors.
There is a picture cross-reference for the connectors that is categorized by either male/female/weatherproof/non-weatherproof.
Connectors are either or only. You won't find a male connector with female pins and male pins. The connectors will only plug into the mating connector that pairs with it. Unfortunately, there isn't any easier way to find matched connector sets. You just have to use the pictures to determine the best set. There is a small possibility of using the matching connector guide below to see which connectors set are available.
After you learn this information that has taken a very long time to understand you can probably construct your own engine harness with patience."
