Does anyone have some detailed pictures of an ST185 propshaft please.
Need to send them to a company (PST - http://www.pstds.com/custom_driveshafts.htm) with regards the feasibility of them making a steel;aluminium; chromoly or carbon fibre propshaft.

TIA

You are aware that ACPT in the US can get you a CF one off the shelf? See http://www.turbocelica.nl/acptpropshaft.htm

Will have a dig around my archive for pics though.

My prop shaft is sitting under my desk at my feet while I strip the car for paint.

What particular photos do you need. Write a list, measurements etc, when you need photos by and I'll make it happen.
PM me email if you want large pics to send to

Yes, I was aware Rene but they are expensive.
If PST can do a chromoly one it'll be half the price.

I'm in no great rush...next couple of weeks would be cool.
I guess I need a pic of the full length of it, also pics of each end (where it slides into the gearbox and attaches to the diff)
As for dimensions...don't know where to start really - waiting to here back from PST to see what they would need.

There is a company in the uk that does carbon prop shafts when I was more flush with cash I was going to get 1
This was about 2 years ago now it was around £1000 all in, they were called
...... Torque or torque ....... Can't remember exact name but anything could be done prop wise

Can anyone explain the benefit of a carbon prop?

Ok so it is lighter - saves 10KG ish? I kind of understand the reduction of rotating mass concept but the prop will surely have a low moment of inertia considering its small diameter?

Is it worth such expenditure?

Torqline? They weren't interested when I inquired for a 185 shaft. :(

Is it worth putting money in a 20+ year old car anyway?

CTG http://www.ctgltd.com Spoke to them a while back at the Autosport Engineering show but couldn't justify the expense for my track toy project.

Of course not, we should all sell our GT-Fours and go and buy a factory fresh Porker/Dancing Donkey or whatever else takes your fancy straight off the dealer floor......oh, hang on a minute, there's a slight problem, my wallet seems to have shrunk ;-)

The fun comes from trying to get supercar performance by spending only mini money on an aging icon of a bygone era of Group A rallying :D

£700 for full single legth carbon prop, and it weighs 16kg compared to nearly 40. More torque and hp, due to no centre coupling.

24kg weight saving for £700, that is actually more cost effective than a carbon bonnet. I suspect the power gains due to less driveline loss are minimal though.

£700 would buy a lot of tins of slim-fast.
