So what exactly are you going to display on the Dash2 Pro? Looks like you have tacho and all the other temps and pressures, AFR's etc. covered elsewhere. What sensor readings are you feeding into the MoTeC. I'm confused.com!
You're confused
...imagine how I feel
Ok so
:deep_breath: what I have decided is...
All the Defi kit will be used for monitoring, what I call, essential engine parameters (temp, pressure, boost).
[Currently don't have EGT - need to look into this a bit more]
All the Defi kit is complete with gauges, sensors and wiring.
This kit, importantly, gives me the audible and visual warnings - which can be seen easily via the Defi vsd head-up display without distracting me from where I am going.
[Past experience has shown that you don't have time to look at gauges or even the dash when speeding round a track or sprint course].
This is also the reason for the tacho and shift light option mounted on the right of the dashboard and in my peripheral vision.
The MoTeC ECU is fed by the standard engine loom sensors and parameters.
[I currently do not have a loom from the ECU to the standard dash display].
Therefore, the Dash2 PRO is a plug'n'play solution to display these ECU parameters.
It will also be used to display track information, breaking points, lap times, etc using the built in 2G Accelerometer.
[I want to look at this info. between runs, if time permits, or during the lunchtime break to improve my performance]
It will also, with the GPS Data Logging option, give me the data logging capability without the need to get a DL1.
The Innovate LC1 AFR is primarily for tuning purposes.
The Link Knock control unit may become redundant if I'm taking this information from the standard knock sensor (fed to the ECU).
It may seem a bit overkill to get the Dash2 PRO as I'm in effect monitoring the same/similar parameters as the Defi kit.
However, when weighing up the cost, the DL1Sport + Dash2 + sensors, wires and cables would work out a lot more expensive than the Dash2 PRO + GPS option + cable would be.
The other advantage with the Dash2 PRO is, as I found out today, I can add the options (e.g. GPS option) at a later date...thus spreading the financial load.
I would stress at this point a couple of things:
[*]I feel very reluctant, at this moment in time, to part with my Defi Kit;
[*]If starting from scratch, I would go the Race Technology route (i.e. DL1Sport or DL1Club + Dash2 + sensors, wires and cables).
