Radek - a couple of things spring to mind...

1. Code 22 - check that the connector is attached to the temp sender and the wiring is in good order. If it is then test the sensor. If the sensor fails then I have a spare one :)

I'll try to check it as soon as possible.

2. Timing - was the timing set with terminal T and E1 bridged? If not then the timing is not correct.

Yes - it was bridged. After ignition was set I checked it once again - this time without T, E1 bridged. It showed 15 - 16 BTDC. I'll try to make it earlier that 12 BTDC. I wonder how it will work.

Now it has 650 RPM with lights turned on and 750 RPMs withiut them. (Fortunately I don't need to turn lights on after 1st of March :D )When accelerating it it doesn't react on gas pedal immiedately. I remember it's one of too late ignition symptoms... After closing throttle valve revs makes something like "jojo effect". They come really low at 400 revs and then comes back slowly to normal. <- that's new symptom. The car didn't behave like this before.

This is perfectly normal. Once you remove the link between the pins then the timing will advance under ECU control

I wouldn't worry about these other problems, I would concentrate on why the car is running so rich first, then you may well find these "new" problems simply vanish! :D

Kris,
You are probably right...

As they said at this (http://www.celicatech.com/imagearchive/bgbonline/89tech/computer%20control%20system.pdf) manual (page 2):
"...Ecu uses sensor signal for cotrolling
- fuel injection duration
- spark advance
- idle speed control
- EGR system"
Looks I got cure of the problem. :D

Support question : Do I have to drain coolant to change EFI temperature sensor ?

Thanks for Your help,
Radek

Radek - thanks for the link :)

Not, you do not have to drain the coolant in order to change the sensor.

However, be prepared to loose some coolant if you find you have to replace it.

I have a good sensor if you get stuck!

Kris, I did fast check yesterday.

1. First I called Toyota service to check prices of sensor and distributor cap. Sensor 150 PLN = 27 pounds, distributor cap 23 pounds. I checked prices of other manufacturers and I found sensor for 10 pounds and distributor cap for 9 pounds.

2. I bought chepaer parts. I thought to my self " "that's only sensor. It's not philosophy to make it right." After reinstallation of new one I checked that connector is different than in the original one...  So...I made it fit .

Finish is ...it doesn't work. I will do pictures today. It will be easier to explain everything.

Kris I think that posting sensor from England to Poland can be quite expensive. How much do You want for it ?

regards,
Radek

Radek - glad the parts are availble to you, and cheaply! :D

I too have come across the sensors having a slightly different connector against years and also origin i.e. UK and JDM.

£10 + postage and it is yours...I can find out postage tomorrow for you.

First, please post/send some pictures of your sensor so that I can compare the connector details :)

just to stick my oar in. when i fitted the JDM 165 engine into my UK 165 i had to keep the UK water elbow because the sensor fittings were different.

its a bit late to tell you that now tho :)

Sounds great. I will answer tomorrow. Today's evening i want to check ECU, ECU-sensor cables and sensor itself of course.
By the way, do You know proper resistance sensor should have?

its a 87/88 spec car, yellow connectors for fuel relay give it away, as well as the green efi sensor plug (square)

I'm not sure I understood You properly. Do
You want me to cut those sensors off or what. Please be patient with my poor English. What about black hose sticked into the intake?
What do you think about second question mark on the second picture? I mean the one with ending without any hose connected to it.

Thanks for help,
Radek

Radek, here is a picture of the connector of the ECU water temp sender, is this the same as your one?

Kris, that looks like a later type of efi sensor, i forget what year penny was now?

Radeks sensor looks to be an earlier item, there is a key way with in the sensor at the bottom?
Don't cut anything yet off yet!

Kris,
Betsy is right. My Celica's sensor is little bit different.

poganin, your sensor is from an earlier ST165 1987-1989., this is apparent due to the sensor you have shown and the colour of the connectors in your picture above ;)

If kris can't help out give me a shout, i have a spare ;)
