Why are the identification numbers on the block and crank not the same as each other, as in the same size..
I mean on the block you have the number stamped 12213, why it it not 11111 or 22222?
Same goes for the crank.

Hi,

pretty simple, producing tolerances
nothing is perfect, 3 bearing and crank sizes gaves you 3times more parts to use and less trash

It's easier (therefore cheaper) to machine to a bigger tolerance then measure to a closer one.

I get that but isn't the block machined in one go with the same tool. Crank I can get as that would take several passes to get required shape.
Also, what about these sellers that sell bearings one size fits all, what's that about?

They measure and spec the clearance much better than most manufacturers hence offering a selection of sizes when most offer only one.
