My CS was owned by a guy who work at Toyota Germany in Cologne. In the time he owned it he blew the engine and bought a new old stock group N spec engine from TTE that came in a wooden box with a uge TRD logo and mounted it into the CS.

He also replaced the rear diff by a two way LSD.

I took it out as it wend more and more noysie in the last years. Maybe someone have a idea what kind of diff it is. Two of the housing srews had drilled heads what let me think it may be a rally part from TTE:

It should be possible to view the cam and pawl through the holes in the central diff housing. This will allow you to confirm if its a two-way diff. The diagrams on the Cusco web site illustrate this. It won't tell you if its TTE although I guess if you stripped it down to the component parts there may be some clues.

Will defently take a closer look at it when I have more time. Currently preperating the car for a one week trip through Switzerland.

Replaced the diff temporary with a stock ST205 one I´ve bought used. So I´m able to work on the 2way over the winter. Hope it´s only a bearing that is worn. Can´t see any damage on the diff itself and it´s drive, but found a lot of shavings on the magnetic drain plug. It is still working, but sounds very strong, espacially at downhill driving.

I would have thought the car would feel quite different with a standard ST205 Torsen LSD compared to a two-way clutch type LSD. A two-way diff is normally only used for straight line sprints and drag racing as the car will tend to understeer on corner turn-in. The 1.5 way diff unlocks as you come off the throttle so the car should turn in better. All this is theory so would be interested to hear about your actual driving experience.

Yo're right. The car tend less to understeer indeed! Didn't drove it on the track since replacing the diff but did a fast testdrive on one of my favorite forest roads.

Also had a custom wheel aligment with much more chamber done yesterday which made the car even better to handle.

Looks like a cusco, the tte diffs were xtrac and they wont fit in standard casing as yours as the drive shafts are a lot bigger than standard.

I´ve seen the Xtrac. It´s really totally different, including the frame it sits on and the driveshafts.

But maybe TTE homologated a LSD that fit into the stock housing for Group N .

Did a small research and came across www.gtfours.co.uk where I found pictures of the Cusco and a TRD 2way LSD. Looks like the one I found in my car:

Just wondering if it behaves like this LSD?
