Hi guys I recently bought a second hand blitz boost controller and it came with a 3 way solenoid instead of the standard one. I was just wondering if this will still work ok? Will there be any difference in setting it up? Thanks for the help

I used to run one of these but they are dual solenoid types. Good unit :D User instructions are readily available on the interweb but if you have any trouble then PM me your email and I can forward you a copy.

Thanks mate. I know they are dual solenoid usually that's why I'm worried it won't work with a generic 3 port solenoid. Unfortunately I'm getting no help from the seller when it comes to this. Do you think it will be ok with the 3 port?

Difficult to comment without seeing what it looks like and how it is wired to the controller. Is it a Blitz solenoid or has someone grafted on a solenoid from another manufacturer?

I'm not too sure mate but the harness plugs straight into it if that helps? It just looks like your typical 3 port though. It's not a blitz though I know that

the type S came with the generic 3 port actuators which were rated to 1.3bar boost pressure.

and the type R came with the much bigger dual solenoid design.

but saying that the apexi and other boost controllers use those 3 port solenoids you have to 2.6bar boost pressure without issues.

Hi guys going to wire this up this weekend I think if I can find out if it will work. It's just a generic 3 port solenoid. Mac I think. It should be fine wiring it up and everything bit will setting it up to work cause me a problem as it is the wrong solenoid or is it a case of a solenoid is a solenoid and it will work for the pressure that I will be going for (about 1.1-1.2 bar)
Thanks

the spec r had a massive black box solenoid, the spec s has a tiny (well small one) I shall take a photo later when I get chance.

My brother runs the r and I run the s

Yeh mate I have seen the correct solenoid before what I am asking is if it will work with the 3port I was provided with and told worked even though it is not correct. Basically I bought a used boost controller off of ebay and the seller gave me this solenoid instead of the correct one. When I emailed him about it he said this worked fine on his car and refused to give me a refund. I have done a lot of looking arround and can't find any information as to weather it will work or not and would hate to set it all up for it not to work.
Thanks

I am running a MAC solenoid on my car but its being driven by my Link ECU. I guess you'll just have to try it and see?

i also bought a Blitz dual spec SBC, and it came also with a MAC solenoid (blue one).

its currently installed, but the manual recommend to set a GAIN on max 5 on a standard gen3 3sgte.

when i made a test drive, i setup the boost to 1.15bar , but forgot to set the gain...the car drove fine and it had much more power. later on i found out that the gain was set on 32!

now i know this depends on what kind of solenoid is installed, on a original spec S solenoid the gain is set on 5, but on the MAC solenoid it set on 32. i dont know if its good or bad, but the car drives fine and is much more quicker then before.

do i really need the original one ?

gain is purely how fast the turbo will be allowed to spool, well how long it leaves it before the solenoid steps in to control the boost.

You can set the gain as high as you like, as long as you don't get spikes when you initially floor the throttle. 5 is just a safe basic reading but i've found the cars more savage with the gain set higher up making more torque. Just have a play. As long as your not spiking you can't go far wrong with it
