Hi Folks,

On Friday I was passing by Turbo Technics in Northampton and needed to pick up a new actuator for my S148 as it seems to have become a bit lazy.

I took the opportunity to ask some questions of the chap who dealt with me who seemed very knowledgeable.

Firstly he clarified that they used to sell two different models of the turbo the S148 (single port) and the S148-3 (twin port).

Secondly and of most interest he stated that they have discontinued the twin port version and now only sell the single port wastegate version. The chap said that the boost creep issues with decat was the primary reason for discontinuing the twin version.

Thirdly he also confirmed to me that the turbine side is a custom housing, it is not from any other OE turbo.

Getting technical info out of TT is like the proverbial blood from stone etc but this is probably as good as we will realistically get.

In summary - the S148 single port version is still in production and they are sat on the shelf ready to buy. As always please check for yourself before relying on this information.

That's great news that the S148 single wastegate turbo is still in production and available :D

I'm not sure that's exactly correct re S148.3 being twin ported waste gate?

Interesting Steve - like I say the information may not be totally reliable, but the takeaway is that it seems the good turbo is still readily available.

Good to know about the trade account :)

Sure I too was told single entry is still available and the S148.3 is fitted with a bigger wheel, T36.

Maybe its a 'new' S148-3? I'm sure Geoff Kershaw would be able to confirm ;-)

I see from the TT FB page that the S148 with the T36 is fit for 400+bhp and an Impreza with a T36B did 460bhp!
