Is this possible - or not a good idea.. i was under the impression that the MR2 is a gen2 3sgte is this a straight swap?

This is possible, Mark CL has done this.

I believe that you want the 94 onwards MR2 as this has essential the same engine/setup as the 205 i.e. head, block, sumps, turbo, injectors etc

Mine is indeed just the block from an MR2 tubby - it was a Gen 3 same as the ST205. I think mine came from a 96 MR2 and had a thick wall. My original block was a thin walled one

All the rest of my engine (head etc) came from my original lump and it all bolted straight on no problem
