I came across the press release for the CS which suggests that a number of suspension amendments were undertaken to the CS and presumably the RC / Grp A and trying to establish what is marketing BS, what is real and what was simply an update that is incorporated into later spec vehicles.

A brief extract : -

To revise the suspension geometry I would assume that the components must be different, particularly the kingpin amendment. Does the CS/RC use different hubs, top mounts or subframes to achieve this?

I wasn't aware of any differences in bottom arms at the front, I seem to remember we replaced a bent one on a CS with a spare from a widebody a-a. Maybe they've added a bracket or re-designed the mount.

I guess a part search on an EPC would confirm which bits are different.

I knew they had different dampers but I am not seeing a difference on toyodiy as far as control arm mount or components.

I do wonder if these amenments were carried across to all vehicles after around 08/91 and then became standard. It's known that some items were changed on later vehicles such as the gearstick mechanism, 9 stud head/manifold, ECU.

CMS did you compare late spec ST185 part nos to similar age CS/RC or early spec ST185?

I just copied the part numbers and pasted them in the search for relevant vehicles and it showed all models. I remember when I first got my alltrac back in 99 there was talk about revisions across the board. In 1992 the US model had loads of changes, from wiring, sway bars, to small engine changes.
Sadly, it seems there was never much proper documentation on this.

Note these are based on RC part numbers. CS model seems harder to sort out on this application.
I also have the old cd based BGB that had original part numbers. Most of which do not come up in modern systems or will at least show they have been superseded. Sadly, I no longer have a computer old enough to run it. I had an old dos machine with two cd players to access it. I quit using it largely because I would then have to figure out what the new pn changed to.
