Post subject:  ST185 Engine weight?

Does anyone happen to know what the weight of an ST185 GT4 engine is?
(without gearbox)

Reason for asking is that I'm after an engine stand and not sure what capacity to go for, i.e. 350, 450, 500, + kg

TIA

The weight is nothing like even the minimum of your suggestions of 350KG and is around half that.
2 strong people can lift a complete engine with head (I'd guess it is circa 160 KG).

If you are buying an engine stand I'd actually ask what you intend on doing with the engine whilst it's on there. For storage a "dolly" is probably more appropriate as it saves so much room. If you are pulling and engine apart or building one up then I'd go for a higher rated one as they are not that stable when pushing them around on concrete garage floor. I've got https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke- ... ine-stand/ and it is totally safe & stable. I'm not sure I'd say the same about their lightweight one : - https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke- ... ine-stand/

That lightweight one just reminds me of Clarkson in a reliant.

I also have the heavy duty Clarke one and find it very good.

Thanks for the responses :)
I needed it initially to store the engine in the garage whilst making it easy to manoeurve.
Later on, it will be useful to be able to work on the engine.
I have ended up buying a nearly new (used once), 'H' base one (like this:
https://www.machinemart.co.uk/p/clarke-ces450-450kg-engine-stand/)
Rated to 750kg for £31.
A bit overkill but at that price!
