Hi chaps, long time no see (aside from those of you I see on facebook groups occasionally :)

I am i the process of fitting a Dash 2 Pro replacement dashboard and am coming to wire up the fuel level sensor.

The diagnostics page in the manual says to test wires 3 & 4 for resistance and also a seperate test for voltage. The sensor itself has 4 wires, and an unexplained "thing" on the arm. The second arm with the unexplained "thing" does not move at all.

The float is obviously the black floaty thing, but what is the other? anyone got a clue? Do need it? It must be there to serve a purpose, but what purpose?

Looking at the picture, I would suspect that the fixed arm holds the low level switch (the one that brings on the fuel light). The swinging arm will go into the variable resistor which gives you the analogue fuel level signal.
