The 205 has a gasket of 1.2mm, "think" the paper gasket on the 165 and 185 is 1.0mm

Think I put the custom piston part number in the piston thread? Anyhow I'll ensure your info is incorporated into that thread...

LOL

Maybe you could use the burger carton and a MHG?

I guess the only safe way is to CC the block and the head and pick an appropriate head gasket

I **think** i've heard tell of a 1.8 HG but could be very mistaken on that

Yous might actually be worse too since you have a couple of thou ceramic coating :(

ye i've seen 1.8mm head gaskets somewhere, cant remember where though.

it is very thin layer of ceramic coating on the pistons, but it all adds up....the joys of taking your engine apart....lol thought i was goin to get an easy ride with them pistons too....hahaha

lol, thats who i got my 1.4mm off of, that'll be where i've seen the 1.8 then...

my other gasket is still all packeged up, guess it should sell :?

Ok it’s like 2am in the morning & I’ve had a load in the pub & I’ve just had the worst 2 weeks of my life so far so please take this reply as off the cuff should it offend anyone…
But…
If I was you at this time I would send those pistons back & inform them that regardless of what they think to be right they want to start making pistons to complement the stock C/R end of, also state you brought the pistons on the premise that they were an OEM replacement & at there own admission they are not so you are expecting a full refund or a correctly machined piston set at no extra cost.
Why do these companies make what they feel is right & expect the consumer to just roll over & play ball??
Why do we always just except what people say & give us without kicking up if it is wrong??

Who knows & like I say if I have said anything that may offend then please just ignore my ramblings, it just a statement of what I would do at this time

wish i could type that well when im tanked up to the eyeballs....

no offence taken at all mate. I can understand where ya coming from

problem is i didn't buy them from JE, i brought them from another owner from the OC, and from what i can gather he initially brought them through top end performance in the states. :?

i have email JE back bout there STOCK 1.4mm gasket, but i cant check my emails at work and they are 7 hours behind our time.
Just have to wait and see if i get a reply, im not expecting one tbh :?

Does anyone know if fensport are aware of this or do they sell custom JE pistons to there own specification? just a thought

I think their ones are custom. The part numbers for the custom 8.5:1 CR are listed in the piston thread...

The 9.0:1 pistons seem very common and freely available, wonder how many people have these in their engines?

No idea about Fennies Pete

JE do list 8.5 pistons (as shown in Kris' piston info thread) so I imagine Fennies sell those for the 205 application

For 185s who knows. Maybe you have to tell them. Maybe they ask. Maybe you always get 8.5
