Does anyone know any car electric diags forums.
I used to have the link to one on my old PC but lost it.
It's not for my car.

Cheers

Steve

Not that I'm aware of Steve

It seems normal to just post up on owners clubs etc.

What's up? Some problems are universal so people here might be able to help

Blimey...that brings back memories...I used to be a mondeo oc member. :D
Can't remember the fault now and now I'm at home I can't ask her. She has the car going into the garage anyway.
Turns out that the AA bloke wrote down a diags code and it was something in relation to a knock sensor on a cylinder or something similar to that....
new cars...Pah...who needs them.

oh sound like a normal mondeo fault

cylinder # knock limit attained.

ecu update + icu update + re-enter injector correction factors (unless its a late ecu with onboard injector driver)

failing that it will have a stuffed injector.

or it's dropped a rod probably number 4 seems favorite where its over fueled and hydrauliced.

from memory injectors are about 300 quid each retail and have to have the pipes replace due to opperating pressure.

2000 bar top line pressure and about 230 bar idle pressure.

OH,

Does sound very familiar

I seem to recall this happening most often, as Midnite said, when the early TDCIs hydrailiced and bent a rod. GEnerally seemed to result in a new engine from Ford if still under warranty :(

Fingers crossed it's not that

oh dear....I'll show her this when she comes into work tomorrow, that'll cheer her up no end...

DO you know if it's gone into limp home, no turbo mode?

That also seems to be a side effect

IIRC she said it was in limp mode. Although she said it drove comfy at 50mph and the engine sounds normal. Hopefully it's just the injector....

Turns out it was the injector that was blocked.
£200 for a new one and £94 labour to fit.
Wonder why this happens.
it's a 52 plate tdci...done 77k miles...I suspect a knackered fuel filter may cause this? Dunno what else....dodgy injector?
Still...she seems pleased enough...could have been worse as per above.

Cheers for the comments guys. :)

the diesel pumps are crap to be fair, the have a problem on earlier ones with internal break up.

the vw pump has phospher bronze bushes the for one does not the fuel filter ends up with swarf in it ford changed the filter for a finer mesh one.

the injectors get damaged, they don't like fuel system cleaners either.

I have advised her to get the fuel filter checked and replaced if it hasn't been recently done.
She seemed pleased with this.
