I'm about to deliberately get on a plane WITHOUT a pack of smokes in my luggage

Since my dad died (not smog related) earlier in the year I've had a couple of goes. Cold turkey didn't go well. Patches were slightly better but taste awful and give off a noxious smoke when you light them :(

So now, inspired by Sir Nigel of Mudwater I'm on the E-Cigs

Its been a week now. Nobody has been thumped. Obnoxious bar steward level pretty much unchanged (so still well above average  )

Hope sun and Sangria doesn't derail the bandwagon......that's the point of this post. Now everyone will know I tried and failed if I start again. No pressure then...

Shock horror gasp, next you'll be turning vegan (pointy ears? ) growing a beard and wearing sandals. It'll never work, trust me. Anyway, good luck and make sure you don't do a Homer (no offence Clive!)

Good luck steve.
A few people I know have recently tried/trying - at least you are a fair distance away so we are safe.

Maybe we should consider a mass "giving up" to add some pressure to say off the weed? I hope to soon be doing the same thing.

Many methods have been suggested, patches, e-cigs, reading books, accupuncture, replacing a cigarette with an alternative activity (self flagellation has been suggested but 2 on the way to work was a struggle unless I hit traffic and then other issues evolved!)

I have done it a couple of times now for a year or two so I know I can do it, that almost makes it easier to keep smoking as I know I can stop.

I wish you well.

I must say it,s been easy enough so far. Last week before I'd hidden the baccy I had a smog by accident and it tasted awful which was nice

JP, always used to be easy for me too. Until this time when I really meant it. Must be sikol...psychomol....in my head

Damn!

It was all going so well
I haven't had a smog for over a month now which is good. No cravings, no asbos and no more burning bridges than normal

All good then ....... But.......

I'm finding that by and large e-liquids are a lottery. In fact for me they are mostly dire
So I tried upgrading my gear as many people say the basic starter kit ones don't produce great flavours

So I bought a couple of upgraded ones

This made the juice worse - the dire tastes are much more pronounced. DOH
The slightly unpleasant black cherry became more like smoking a urinal cake. The fairly bad hazelnut coffee turned into turpentine
The quite nice mint choc turned into an after eight though so it wasn't all bad

Then I had an incident with one of my upgrades when a liquid enhancement experiment went bad

So I bought an upgraded upgrade with a nuke proof glass tank. Lovely bit of kit

Then it went really bad

In an attempt to find some decent juices I tried some internet forums and we all know what forums are like

The end result is this lot

Image

I'm now mixing my own liquids
The back row is basic stuff to make unflavoured nicotine solution and the front row is all flavouring
The middle row is the pre mixed stuff I've tried

So far I've mixed up a New York cheesecake (in the maple syrup bottle, nice but needs to mature) and an irish coffee which smells great but also needs to mature

At the moment smoking would be cheaper but hopefully i can now concoct some decent tasting stuff and i can wind down the nicotine content over time

Another update for some of the hardware people tested on Friday

Some of the current hardware in use

Image

From Left to Right

Luuuke, I am your Father
Vamo V5 battery unit, Aspire dual coil glassomizer

Wogan's Wand
Joyetech Ego-C Twist battery, Kanger mini Protank 2 V2

AA battery for size reference

Out in public
Generic Ego 650mAH battery, Aspire dual coil CE4 clearomizer

Noisy Cricket
generic Ego 650mAH battery, A7 mini dual coil dripper
Completely impractical, leaks if you lay it down but produces clouds Michael Fish would raise an eyebrow at

Nige,
You tried the Aspire CE4 clearomiser from HERE
I've found them leak free day to day and generally pretty dashed good. I also like the Glass version on the lightsaber rig. Both use the same replaceable coil (shown in that link) but you can put any liquid in the glass version - the acrylic can crack with certain stuff
Note the CE4 version has a replaceable plastic tip, the glass version has a fixed metal one

Pair either of the above with an Ego battery (e.g this) and charger (e.g this) and you will have a good rig

Liquid wise I have no idea. Most I've bought have been a bit rubbish
You tried a home mixed Lemon meringue pie but' The Alchemists Cupboard do one. No idea if it any good but here's a review of some of their other liquids for inspiration
It might be worth investigating Whole Tobacco Alkaloids (WTA). See http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xko9ODWmmy0 for a start

Good luck if you give it another go

*
Note, I have no affiliation with safercigs but Daz who runs it is a helpful guy. There's millions of other places to buy stuff and you might find a local place where you can go and test drive some gear
