I went to take some bolts etc to my favourite zinc platers today and what did I notice being packed up ready for shipping back? A set of ST205 rear sub frame and suspension bolts. They came up very nicely, who ever it is that posted them there...expect them back soon as they were just packing them up ready for shipment as I was chatting to them

So, are the zinc plated nuts and bolts you had done a while ago holding up?

If I remember, you had a load of bits done?

Well they are holding up nicely in the box :D haven't used a single one of them yet really, I did put some of the rear sub frame back together, but that's never made it out of the attic yet.

I did a test with two bolts on the old celica, one went rusty in a week, the other was perfect until I removed it. When I mentioned this to the zinc players they apologised and have since put all the stuff I give them through the zinc plating process twice, the method they use is like a big drum and it doesn't guarantee total coverage with the zinc...hence putting it through twice to increase the odds.

With all the effort I have put into this rebuild, I hope they last a lot longer than a week.

I had a load of bolts, brackets and other bits and bobs passivated zinc plated for the Lagonda and the results were excellent - all the parts were still corrosion free after 8 years
