Hello and what a nice day,

i have been refitting my head over the weekend and i appear to have a problem.

i have re-seated all the valves ready for the head going back on but i noticed i don't seem to have any spring seat shims.

It is common practice for the valve spring to be seated on a steel shim (between the spring and head).

i DON'T seem to have any? they are shown in the tech manuals i have for the st185.

I don't remember removing any and if i had they would be in the bags containing each valve, spring, retainer, shim and collets.

This seems a bit odd. should there be some on this head?

if so does anyone have a spare set or a Mr T part number so i can order some more?

Better have a look through my bench at work in case i put them in my cam trays or in their own bag.

The car has been apart before and i have the bag of "SPARE" parts to prove it..LOL.

Cheers

Sean

the part i am thinking of is a very thin steel almost washer which generally sticks to the head and doesn't really notice.

they are shown in the manual i have for the gt4 (alltrac)

i'll check my MR2 data and post a picture.

Gary this is the little bit spring seat

okay the spring seat is listed in my 1990 alltrac manual.

my 1991 celica manual doesn't show it.

and it is listed in my 1991 MR2 Turbo manual.

Gary thats the wrong page mate you want em41 but yes that is the part.
