It might be a coincidence that my car started smoking after i filled up with Tesco Fuel from Huntingdon, could the O2 sensor cause smoke or am i just wishing?

Can cause black smoking if it is telling teh ecu to richen it up. Not Blue smoke though I wouldn't think - that is indicating you are burning oil.

May be worth a claim though to Tesco?

Interesting news item that......I was just reading that the corn based 'green' fuel used in some race cars is prone to 'separating' into its constituent parts e.g. ethanol and gasoline. The ethanol then attacks the rubber membrane of the safety fuel cell which means a big bill for replacing it and other components in the fuel line like pumps, filters, seals etc. The price of being GREEN I guess

Personally I'll stick with Shell V-Power as the quality assurance is probably better than the supermarket fuels.
