While I know some of you may deride the use of such a product, I still want to let you know what I have found.
BTW - The product states that it is ok to use on turbo engines.

I added Slick 50 Synchron to my St205 a few weeks ago and here is what i have found:

Better fuel consumption - i now get 350 miles to a tank rather than 300

Turbo spools up quicker - now this really surprised me, its made the acceleration really punchy, seems to spool up at 3000 rpm rather than a slow 3250.

Hits high boost very quick. Hits the limiter very quick when the EBC is set to high boost, where as before it didn’t reach the limiter.

Less oil consumption - I would have needed to add 1/2 pint by now, the level is still high.

Make of this what you will - but I’m going to carry on using this stuff. I was Very surprised!

Anyone here use this – what are your thoughts?

Personally I'm not a fan of additives, even though I have used them in the past.

Interesting points you have stated above. Some of the results are quite surprising!

hmm,
I have a couple of bottles of ZX1 in the garage that I never did anything with. Similar but not teh same.

I ahve heard horror stories of using additives like Slick 50 in that it gunges up oil aglleries.

Maybe just rumour. I woudl be amazed if it had as much effect as you say - happy to be amazed though m8 :-)

Jury still out?

We used it a few times on my kart engines and it never did stop them seizing (lean carb jetting is such an expensive business!).

I'm somewhat confused by it as my undertanding of Slick 50 is it contains a teflon element to effectively make your bores non-stick and more slippery. But if it does that, surely it would stop the rings seating properly as the oil film on the bores would no longer be able to cling to them?

I had heard that if you used it from new you needed to keep using it. . . . . and that if the car was old (not sure what age qualifies as old?) and it had never had Slick 50 in it, it would do more damage than good to put it in.

Probably both grossly incorrect statements! But what I have heard in the past none the less.

from what i can gather there are different types of slick 50, some are suited to older engines. The one i used is for synthetic engines with or without Turbos. They state that the product is good for 100k miles. They also do gearbox stuff too.

As you say Jury's out, but hey i'm commited now!

Oilman (Simon) from Opie Oils has discussed this in the extensive oils thread on the OC forum site, so if anyone wants further info it might well be worth e-mailing him?

so i see - oh well i've done it now - but how can i explain the difference in oil and petrol consumption? Is it my changed driving - i dont think it is..?

No idea m8 - probably best to (a) keep fingers crossed that all continues to go well and (b) monitor the fuel consumption etc and see if it stays better or gets worse again. Have you reset the ECU at any stage before doing this or since, or had the battery off recently perhaps? :?:

Cheers,
Mark
