I have seen the white butterfly drain point on the main rad. If I drain the coolant from there will it drain the coolant in the engine too?

No, the engine coolant is a seperate system to the IC system.

Lol......I meant the drian plug in the engine block and the main rad...

It is within a weird looking lump of aluminium underneath the alternator. This is held in place by 2 8?mm headed nuts

No probs with the questions, that's what one of the aims of a Club and Forum is about :)

Will the coolant thats being flushed through come out of the thermostat point? If so the how can I prevent the corrosive liquid soaking all the electric parts in the engine bay.....it doesn't look like there is barely room to undo the thermostat let alone get a funnel in there to drain....

The liquid is not corrosive, in fact it is a corrosion inhibiter :)

If you remove the housing and then the thermostat you can always put the empty housing back in place to help channel the fluid to somewhere that you would like
