if they are screwed (oops baddum tsh) the threads are part of the distributor so can be swapped (is a PITA)

No the thread on both the toyota screw and the other are the same, I have measured them, the difference is the design of the cap of the screw, its not flat giving a very small mating surface and has no spring washer.

Thanks for the offers of assistance, the bits should be here friday and I am fine until then (don't need car till sunday) if anything goes awry I will shout!
