Does anyone know if the rear washer is tested in the MOT?

Mine is not working - I don't want the car to fail on something silly. :)

I think it's one of those things where if you have it it is supposed to work, but most MOTers won't notice or care.

Thanks guys - its working now - turned out to be a kinked hose at the join between the body and the hatch.

Nice easy fix with e bit of plastic cable conduit. :)

hey all,
i know this thread is mega old, but....
my front washer has stopped working and as said earlier my rear died years ago. obviously it is slightlty more imerative the front works. iam gonna check the tubing incase its kinked.

but on the off chance it is foobar. where are the motors fr the front and rear washers please.
BTW my headlight washers wrok and it says in the book that they three washers run from the same fuse so it cannay be the fuse.
or could it????
thanks for your help or any suggestions would be top.
thanks....

Happy halloween

Mine has had the same problem since I got it  Rear wiper works OK but no fluid comes out the washer nozzle :(

I believe the rear washer takes its feed from the same pump as the front washers? Can anyone confirm this? I guess I need to track the hose back from the nozzle to see if its kinked in any way. That will be the easy fix :fingers crossed: :)

Mahender - I would say Motor or wiring - if you can get to the pump you can try doing a check with a multimeter on the wires to see if the pump is receiving 12v. If not then I would look at replacing the pump.

Don - to confirm what robbie said its the same pump. My line was kinked just where the hose passes from the main body into the rear hatch - I would investigate there first.

it's located at the front of the offside front wing, if you pull down the arch liner you will see the washer bottle with the pump attached to it.

it's a fairly easy job mate. Jack the front up and start removing the arch liner from under bumper backwards, you won't need to fully remove the arch liner before you find it.

if your planning on removing the pipes or the motor while there's water in the bottle, be prepared to get wet
