Anyone know what the coolant capacity is on an ST205? (engine - not WAI) Gary |

Cheers. Time to fill up with some antifreeze now I think. Was running 100% H2O for the first 1000kms - helps bed the HG in apparently. Gary |

Gary, we all run the Toyota red coolant in our engine cooling systems as well as our WTA intercooler systems. Not sure if you're doing the same? I made the mistake of using some 'ordinary' blue antifreeze and the corrosion effect was very noticeable after a period of time. Wish I'd used red coolant from the beginning now |

I'm using a green coloured coolant from a local parts auto supplier. What's the difference with the red stuff? As for the WAI, I'm just using water and water wetter. Gary |

I believe the Toyota Red Coolant is designed to inhibit corrosion of aluminium alloy. Also, the Red Coolant is specifically recommended for the ST205 intercooler. If I can find the official reference to this I'll let you know. In the meantime can anyone else quote the actual Toyota reference? |

Unfortunately not. But just to echo what Don says, I'd only use the red stuff... I've taken a few things apart and I've noticed some corrosion forming on the internals of some pipework when not running red stuff. I have found that pipework is in very good condition internally if it runs red stuff. Maybe I'm just being lucky but I suspect that running coolants that do not have the same properties as the Red Stuff are not inhibiting the corrosion sufficiently. Ker-plink! |
