OK I think have worked it out. Just a quick question now really.....is it worth fitting a rear diff oil cooling system...a simple pump, small rad and some pipes....or is it just more trouble than its worth?

I reckon too much hassle. A fully synthetic oil, with the UK cooling duct should be sufficient imho. (I have no evidence to support this, it's just my 2p)

I ran a temperature sticker on the outside of the diff casing, will try to find the pics I took of it.

My conclusion - don't bother. :)

i'm thinking of alanv with the red 4wd corolla project that did the rear diff output oil seals rebuild as per the spec in the BGB.

Can't remember if I posted pics when I rebuilt mine

Annoyingly the bearings aren't available direct and Toyota prices are sky high so if it's a bearing related issue then a good second hand one is a better bet

Seals and a reshim are pretty straight forward though
