Hi there not been oin for a while,
Could someone help me polease.
i need to do my oil desperately. i have searched the forum and read one previous topic on oil.

i have decided to changge my oil for semi synth. as it says fully synth mobil one is not good for high mileage gt4's.

what i would like to know is whether you can mix oils. I have to top mine up every couple of months (only a litlle bit) if i put semi in now can i top up layter with the rest of my mobil one ( still have 3/4 tub left.)
or is it a bad idea.

nevermind your original question, i wouldnt use anything other than an ester based fully synthetic oil in a turbocharged engine

I have used Valvoline Turbo 5 oil in my car. It's smooth as anything. It's due for another change soon. Then again...I don't drive it that hard at all as I'm always stuck in single file traffic going to work.
The car does not consume oil either.
Every 3k miles I'm doing mine.

Mahender, what Andy is referring to is an article posted by an oil specialist where he outlines the benefits of using fully synthetic ester based oils only in our engines due to the stresses etc that turbocharging puts on them.

Basically you're better off using oils by Fuchs/Silkolene/Motul, the fully synthetic ester based ones. Mobil 1 is whats knows as a hydrocracked oil and isn't a true synthetic as such but is certainly one of the better hydrocracked ones out there.

I use Silkolene Pro S 15W50 but the Motul ones are also good. Hope thats of some help :)

Bottom line mate change your oil very regularly and you shouldnt have problems unless using really poor quality oil.

However, you should never mix semi-synthetic with fully synthetic etc. Thats bad.
