Hey folks,

This is potentially a silly question, but wanted to confirm before I hunt around for the wrong item. My ABS doesn't work, so I have ran an ABS error code check. I've done this by bridging TC with E1 under the diagnostics port in the engine bay. My ABS light on the dash stays solid, which seems to indicate that the ABS Module has malfunctioned/died.

Here is the potentially daft part. I would imagine this means the ABS unit under the bonnet with all the piping coming in/out of it is the part that needs replacing? Not 100% sure, but wondered if you guys could clarify for me please?

Thanks in advance!

You also have a separate ABS computer and G-sensor as parts of the system. They are located behind the interior panels below the rear quarter windows. I'd also check those (wiring), as well as the wheel hub sensors (wiring) and rings (damage).

The bit under the bonnet is the abs pump, no logic in it just the electro-mechanical part. Unlikely that is faulty without giving fault codes I would have thought.

Thanks Meurz, will have a check of those!

Nibbles - Ah ok, thanks for the help! So what could the ABS module be? Potentially a fuse or the ABS ecu?

Thanks guys!

Ive had a few problems with my abs (still do, but intermitent now) All problems have come from dodgy joint on the abs sensors. (One was the sensor was open circuit all together, so needed replacing)

Do the diagnostic to point out which sensor it might be (thats if it is a sensor fault in your case) and then check with ohm meter so see if sensor is ok. If sensor is ok, disconnect it and connect back up a few times... This solved my problem.

My (new) intermittent problem is that I tried removing a sensor from the hub (for another reason entirely as I was doing bearing replacement and ended up leaving the sensor in situe) and was unable to push it back in fully to so the pick up signal is a bit on the weak side... When I can be bothered, I'll use a bit of wd40 and a few light taps with a rubber hammer. (I'll probably end up smashing it and having to get a new one..)
