Hi guys,

I've posted this on celica club but I wondered what you guys think

Posted Yesterday, 08:12 PM

About two years ago I started to get a squelching noise when I lift the brake pedal. This is a very random thing. One day it will do it another it's fine. Some days it does it but if I'm driving for like an hour or so it will stop or vise versa.

When this started to annoy me I decided to look over all the brakes and I noticed that the front left caliper was sticking. I purchased a recon and done a full fluid change as I'm not sure if it had ever been done.
For a few months it seemed ok. Then out of the blue the noise was back. I checked it over again and it looked fine. I even got my garage to take a look and they cold not find anything.

The noise still comes and goes but as of recent I've noticed the brakes feel a bit distant. It's like I have to put more pressure on the pedal to get her to stop. Pads and discs are fine. The pedal does feel slightly spongy. I'm sure there is no air in the system as it has been bled several times as I thought that may be the issue.

I'm now thinking this could be a master cylinder issue. What do you guys think?
If this is the problem what sort of cost is a new unit and are they a pita to fit?

Sounds vaguely servo related to me

Try undoing the nuts that hold the master cylinder to the aero and pulling the master cylinder forward a bit. Look for signs of fluid out the back of the cylinder

If nothing is obvious disconnect the servo vac line from the manifold and suck on it. See if it will hold a vacuum

Squelchey noise you can hear to me implies it's coming from the bulkhead area so that's where I'd concentrate
