Drivers side rack mount cracked across bottom & up one side. Had it welded & within two weeks boss had come away from bulkhead. Steering returns hands off wheel & sus swivels free with t.r.ends removed. Any ideas.

Sounds like someone forgot to do up the clamp onto the steering rack.
Was the engine removed to do the welding do you know ?

Lower engine x members & ex removed & engine jacked foreward. Bottom & n/s of boss welded, but boss has broken away from bulkhead about 10 mm from welding & o/s & top of boss which was not cracked

Can you get some pictures posted so we can see exactly what's come adrift. I think I misunderstood.

Will try to get pictures, but will have to remove x members etc. The drivers side rack mount is bolted to a boss that is welded to the bulkhead, it is this boss that has now come away from bulkhead. As there is no problem with seized suspension joints putting extra load on rack mounts I cant think of any reason for this to happen
