Hi all,

Right last week we went to look at an accident damaged 4. Our mate decided to buy it for £500, the only damage is a rear quatre panel is dented. To be honest we didn't have a proper look at the car as it was going so cheap.

Right he picked up the car tonight so we had a good look over her.
Firstly found error code 54 and quickly sorted that out. The charge cooler was half empty.
We then found a orange light that looks like a car with its rear lights on. I think this is the rear brake light warning. We noticed the brake light in the middle of the boot lid was out. We replaced the bulb however as soon as the ignition key is turned it lights up for around 30 seconds. It the comes back on when the brake pedal is pressed.

Any ideas how to solve this one?
Oh and I'm not pulling out the light in the dash :-)

Has it been converted to LED bulbs or anything like that?

Funny you should say that.

We found a stash of bulbs in the glove box. We replaced the light that was out with an led bulb.
The dash light still came on but I thought it may be the led bulb so we then fitted correct bulb and still the dash light comes on.

What I haven't checked yet is the other brake light bulbs. We will be dining that tomorrow.

It makes me very suspicious as there were loads of the led bulbs in the glove box.

Hiya

If all lamps are working then check that the light only comes on when you press the footbrake, if all the bulbs are the correct ones and working yet the light does come on when you press the brake then it is more likely a faulty lamp out warning light ecu as I call it, its in the o/s/r panel in front of the rear wheel behind the rear speaker, usually a loose pin on the circuit board that needs resoldering
