I've seen this happen a number of times on the MR2 Turbo E153 box (Basically identical to the GT-four). Sudden cracked end casing with a 5th gear trying to escape. Reported to happen under standard driving conditons. I don't think anyone ever determined what caused it.

Just a query, but have heard that I should change rear diff as apparently the 205 box will blow it?
Is this true or some rumour that is a load of stinky stuff??

Quite a few have changed to a 205 box over the years, i've not heard of any having changed the diff as well as or because of tbh. One or two recently have had rear diff failures but running quite high bhp figures and only to be expected.

Ok thanks bud, I shall not worry then. Just hearsay. I've not got high bhp so should be ok, other than the autosolo events that it gets a hammering at.

How could a gearbox change blow the diff ? Even if the diff ratio were different (which it isn't) it would be the centre viscous coupling that would go.

I smell something smelly.

hey jamie, you've piggybacked onto my post but never mind, its gearbox related lol.
Nice to of met you the other day, im sure someone will be along to offer advice soon, so in the meantime take alook at what this forum has to offer and all relevant subject sections for where to post things.
