Have been losing water when on boost, from the cap lifting and spurting out the overflow bottle have a 1.3 trd cap, head gasket maybe ????
compression 170 psi across all 4 pistons. water does flow out the top when reving with the cap off.
Any idea's ??

Today had it Rolling roaded :-

506 bhp and 434 ft lb but he had to come off the gas due to the water leak.
second run was a full one and with a bit of heat soak achieved 498 bhp
and 429 ft lb.
typical i only have a printout of the second run.

Hitch,

Not that i am sure, but don't think it will be BHG?

More likely to be dodgy rad cap, is the TRD one you are using genuine or a copy with a TRD sticky badge on it?

Have you had it long?

Might be worth getting another to test?

IF it were a BHG, i think you would more likely be loosing water, but with no obvious signs of where it is going?

Hetch,

Is this at high rpm?

It could actually be that it's the water pump over-pressuring the system if you're going above stock RPM. I believe Adrian has seen these sort of issues.

What kind of cooling mods do you have?
Is this an instant overpressure or does it take time?

Your even PSI figures would not make me suspect anything leaking although a hydrocarbon sniff on the coolant might be in order if nothing else obvious comes up

Pretty sure Adrian and co are running 1.5Bar caps BTW. It might make the difference

PS
Dashed good numbers!!

Just following on from what Steve said. Both Adrian and Tony are running modified cooling systems as the stock pump has a tendency to cavitate the coolant at high rpm. This then leads to the formation of local 'hot' spots around cylinders 2 and 3 which can lead 'in-extremis' to splitting of the block. This has happened to both the Fensport cars. They both now run Evans coolant, a swirl pot and header tank. The header tank is almost 4 litres in capacity! This compares to 1.5 litres for the stock plastic expansion tank. The system is pressurised to 0.9 bar on the Fensport cars. The TTE ST205 and Corolla WRC cars both use a similar system but may run higher pressures if the TTE ST185 is anything to go by.

Even although I'm producing 'only' ~345bhp I've dound that I'm losing coolant when I run >6000rpm on track for sustained periods e.g. Silverstone National Circuit where there are few straights to give the engine a rest and a chance to sool down. I changed to a larger Koyo alloy rad and this has helped but not eliminated the problem. My next step is to fit the swirl pot and header tank.
