Now...... her indoors says one or the other must go.... I.E. the CS or the ST205!!!!
She likes the 'ride' in the CS more than the 'harsh ride' in the ST205 ..... (I've never ridden her for years!!)
One will have to go (over my dead body :) ' so... *bleep* do I do??? :)

You've been saying that for years and you've still got them both :)

Ignore her, or sell the kia

Stick a kia badge on one of them and tell her the job is done

Hey guys just had a read through and I’m thinking there is another CS on my drive way with the same sort of problem.
As most of you know I did the engine rebuild last year, got it in to the car and then we moved but the car runs bloody awful, won’t run without throttle input and massively over fuelling.
I do have a Blitz to go in but I’ve got one of them gut feeling that this might be another CS ECU with a similar fault, I’ll get it out and have a look and let you know.
Fantastic bloody job by the way Chris glad we have people like you on board. Dorris

There's 2 capacitors that have given problems, both 10uF, one on the top board and one on the bottom. The one on the top, the corrosion was barely visible, just looked like a discolouration on the solder joint.
It is possible for any of the capacitors to go the same of course, and they generally go when they've been unpowered for an extended time.

You're welcome to send it to me for a look, and I can hopefully bribe Daryl to try it in his car at the next food meet.

p.s. - as a thought re. overfueling, you have got a proper CS AFM attached ? They are larger than the normal 185 AFM so will open less for a given airflow.

Yes mate all the components are completely original CS parts.
Interesting on what you say about being un-powered for a long period, the car last ran early 09 then didn’t fire up again until late summer 12 and on top of that thank to my brother not looking after whilst I was out the country for four month, it I had a bit of a water issue inside the car and I had to vacs the water out the foot wells with mould everywhere.
Another issue i’ve notice that makes me think it could possibly be the ECU now is that the charge cooler fan constantly runs as soon as you turn the key.
Like I said I do have a Blitz Access to go in but after a conversation a few years ago i’m not 100% that it could be compatible for the CS.
As soon as I have some time ill look at getting it out and opened up and letting you know. D

Charge cooler running constant is one of the symptoms.

And a mix up of RC to CS ecu.

The RC ecu on the CS loom runs the waterpump continuously

I think im one of the lucky ones as when I picked up my CS it was a complete original un-modified car but far from anything like good condition then a couple years later I had the ring land failure so a complete rebuild was in order. D

Damn thing will not start now due to???? low battery power???
All dash lights on but when I hit 'start' (against the spring) not even a click!!! headlights work fine but both the radio and clock lights just fade away....weird.
Bit p'dd now as I had a 100/1 at Aintree but I guess my battery is nearly Fkd. Reads 12v OK and 14 when engine running (starsts OK when just charged up)... too risky to take her out... damn... another 55£ for an o5 ... booogar .

You say the headlights stay on ok but radio fades when you go to start ?

If so, it won't be battery. Actually, I've got a feeling radio (and clock) power is removed in the start position of the switch.

Could be starter motor gone dodgy after all the recent cranking.
