Just had a quote for the rear Carbotech XP10 pads. Grand total including the dreaded vodka and tonic comes to £180 so they are four times more expensive than the Black Diamond Predator pads. They'd better work at that price! Whilst this is not a massive issue for a track car like mine it would probably deter the average GT-Four punter on a tight budget.

definitely Don, this is why many people run ebc came the alike.

But i must say they have been so much more than my ebc never were, i believe Ian and mine original conversation he said i might as well not have brakes. Haha

conned me into getting a set and straight away i told my brother he had to get a set! Haha

Ive been impressed with the yellowstuff pads in as far as they bite really well, its just the dust that annoys me.

the carbotechs must be brilliant :P

I paid about £50 for my rear pads though, not £180, that is a massive difference!

If the pads perform as Dale has described it could transform the car. It can inspire huge confidence in the car if you have brakes with lots of feel and bite. I fitted Pagid pads to my Elise after everyone on the Lotus forums raved about them but they were just rubbish compared to the Mintex 1155's I had on the car previously. They didn't fit properly as the back plate was too small and they squealed like a stuck pig. I don't know what planet the forum people were on but its certainly not the same as mine!

Even with good quality pads like Performance Friction you have to be careful. I fitted them to my M3 years ago (before Isaw the light and bought my ST205!) They had such superior bite it actually confused the ABS with the result that the front wheels locked up under even light braking.....weird.

With my standard JDM I don't rag it so the TRD/Predator combo is fine. I've been trying the EBC Yellows on the front after Jonny Milner won the Toyota Sprint Series using them. The bite is slightly better than the TRD's but the dust they produce is horrendous so I'd go back to TRD for my next set of pads I think.

i have to say the carbotech can confuse the abs every now and then on mine.

Oh god yes i thought my ebc were good, i took the carbotech as he did me a great deal and the first time i went out with them i nearly went through the window. Haha

bear in mind alot of the big bhp evo sure the 10s same swear by them too, they command the price tag because they can really.

are they worth so much more? not to your normal Joe maybe but on a track car or someone who use track alot? definitely.

two major downside though.

1. massive dust, white wheels are no longer white.

2. the can and sometimes do howl.

I run Carbotech xp8's on my car as I am good mates with their sales manager so he managed to get me onto trying them.... and I have never looked back, they are superb and definately won't ever go back to EBC or the alike

Spoke to Ian at Carbotech and described the spec of track toy. He has suggested XP6 pad co.pound to try and acieve a balance with the front AP Racing/Ferodo pad setup. He used to run an ST185 I believe.

I have Carbotech XP10's made up for my AP's (to replace Ferodo DS2500 when worn). Still in the box though, so no idea on actual performance - but based on experience with my mates Evo9 they're outstanding. A 'bit' of squeel when cold but unreal bite when up to temp. Also unreal dust!

That's interesting Rene. What pads are/were you running on the rear calipers?

good to see you like them too!

They are in my eyes, definately some of it not the best on the market, certainly the best i've ever used or been driven in.

A bit of squeel is generous! haha , mine howl when ive been out on track for a long period but the power makes up for it!

And you arnt kidding on dust, i gave up cleaning my wheels after i changed to carbotechs, they are a discrace my wheels.
