An MR2 with a big end gone (well & truly). It was destined for the scrapyard as the cost of an engine & fitting by a garage is as much as the car is worth. The guy was deperate for a cheap runabout so I did a swap for my clio.

Hopefully the block and pistons are good so I can make a good one out of that plus the engine out of my 185 with ringland failure / worn block.

Bit of welding needed soon on the drivers sill but otherwise pretty good condition throughout - apart from the pink neons

I had a drive round the purbecks in Alex's one and it was a hoot. Plenty of grip on decent tarmac but at the same time easy to provoke and very controllable. I'm looking forward to getting a bit more used to one and see what it can do when driven properly, I suspect it could eat a GT4 for breakfast on dry tarmac.

I'm hoping to have it running and run in for the autotest on the 16th June.

Nice,
Always fancied a t-bar for summer days. Looks like it is a Rev3 (st205 engine version?) - I assume it is a turbo looking at the dustbins hanging out the back?

Rev 3 turbo engine.

It will be getting the 205 chargecooler setup from my 185 as that's going front mount, otherwise it'll be staying standard.

Snigger

I've found a previous owner:

Quote:
OMG! Can't believe what a mess she's in, I used to spend 8 hours every weekend polishing that car :crybaby:

Looks like the guy I sold her to 16 months ago did not treat her as well as I did!

Hope you can bring her back to her former glory Chris :th:

Btw, her name's Jezabel ;)

Seems I've got to keep the neons now.

You think that's bad - I'm currently driving round in a micra with teddy bears on the dash.

Most of yesterday afternoon was spent shuffling round the contents of the workshop to get the car in with decent space round the sides & back (access to the engine is pretty much from either side only).

For those who like cringing at noises:

Spent the last of the afternoon after Steve arrived clearing the jumble. We removed the engine bay lid and covers, and also the boot lid as it's one less bit of paintwork to drop things on, and will also allow a tired old git to sit in the boot and work on the engine

That sounds horrible Chris :( If you need any old parts to make up a working engine let me know. I have lots now having stripped two engines recently!
