Ok, since putting some fuel cleaner in the car has been hesitant and intermittantly stuttery (as if a spark plug is breaking down) I have now flushed the cleaner out with 2 lots tanks fills 2x£50)
car still stutters and now brings up code 52 (here we fing go again.)
check the timing and its set on 10 degrees. Charge cooler fine, water pump fine. I disconnected the knock input to ecu and fed a signal to simulate normal knock signal and went for a drive. Car knocks on medium accelaration.

Any ideas what this could be? If its engine out or head off then car goes to the highest bidder. Simple!

I presume you are feeding the car on Shell V Power Nitro? Last time this happened on your car the symptoms disappeared when you filled up with Shell 99.

The car will knock without the sensor wired to the ecu. The stock maps are just above the threshold. In normal learnt mode the ecu has always some knock retard applied. So lying to the ecu, it will see a valid knock sensor, provining its seeing a semi valid looking level of out it will assume no knock and slowly let it go the the mapped extreme.

Also, its been high ambient temp wise, so I'd deffo expect the knock to be higher than normal. And so the ecu will pull a bit of timing to stop it.

ok, so any ideas what the problem is? I did this before and did not get the above symptoms... yes, temps are higher hence i've set timing at 10 degress.
I can not get normal power without it coughing all the time...

actually, I don't think Im getting det. The couching noise is coming from the exhaust, I think that I just have a duff knock sensor as well as the coughing noise fault whatever that is...
Spark plugs are NGK copper, bought about 2 months ago.

dizzy cap and rotor, less than a year old, not done leads...
I don't want to replace things for the hell of it, I might have a word with nibbles and see if I can borrow these items to pinpoint which part on my car has broken down..

I ran a jdm 205 on 95 Ron an fudged knock sensor input for ages with no det.

I take it it runs smoothly with simulated knock sensor, just pinking ?

No, it runs as it did before (cr@p) but not as bad. Also, I don't think its pinks at all, with or without knock sensor or simulated knock sensor, hence why I think there are 2 faults. Fault 1 being a broken knock sensor (code 52)
Fault 2 - Over to you guys....
What I though was pinking is short quick coughs out the exhaust....

Sorry, It has always run smoothly, it just doesn't like anything over 40% throttle. That's when I get the slight coughs out the back and lack of power....

I don't know the history of the car but has anyone measured your afr? What caused you to use the injector cleaner?

I think there may be a moral to the story there about don't fix what ain't broke.

Coughing at higher cylinder pressures sounds like weak ignition. Voltage required to ionise gas (mak a spark) goes up with pressure.
If it's a regular misfire (3 cylindering) at higher throttle may indicate plug, plug lead or dizzy cap.
If it's random could be dizzy cap, rotor arm, king lead, coil or igniter.
