Developed a new KNOCKING sound. Check out the video (notice that the cambelt is right over as well....)

http://youtu.be/c2qDLvNIq_s

Any idea? Water/oil pump?? If its big ends and has scrapped the crank then its going to GT4 HELL!!

Off the wall suggestion, but could it be a loose spark plug?

As above, it does sound very like either a loose spark plug or a holed piston. I'd check the simple things first like plugs, loose intake or exhaust plenum. If its piston related then it will pump loads of oil into the crankcase breather and catch tank so that's a pretty obvious sign! Hope its something simple.

Okay, looks like its the bottom end. So its bye bye as I'm not getting covered in oil again and im *bleep* money at it either.
So, where is the best place to flog it? Im looking for £1500 as There are A LOT OF NEW parts on it as Ive spent a bloody fortune on it and could never get it to run right for more than a month!!!

Oh, oil was just barely registering on the dip stick even though I filled it a week ago.
So wonky cam belt AGAIN
Bottom end gone AGAIN and probably crank.
Oil teleports somewhere leaving no evidence AGAIN!

And I just taxed the piece of $hit!

Sounds same as when the but holding bottom pulley on crank came loose allowing it to allow can belt to advance and retard as the tensioner tried to take slack up when going against can springs.

I had about 0.5 mm slot worn which altered can timing a lot.

Worth checking... As to the oil gone.... Don't know, but as the intake can controls ignition then that might of been the set problem. If the main bolt is very loose then the pulley might have moved out thus moving can belt outwards as well.

Standard apart from forged pistons & boost controller.

Doesn't sound like big end knock to me (plus if it were that bad, there would be noticable running issues). Sounds almost like a cam rattle, or maybe as Daryl suggests try tightening your crank pulley. Also take the fan belt (& power steering) belt off to eliminate any of those components.

Did it suddenly start or gradually (relatively since it was ok a couple of days ago), and after what sort of driving and/or what circumstances ?

The video is a bit deceiving as there is no hissing noise in real life (probably the alternator blowing air onto the Mic.)
I have disconnected all ancillaries including the bottom pulley and it still knocks.

It started when I set of yesterday morning and it was feint and gradually got worse within a mile or 2.

It would knock if you remove the bottom pulley - try tightening it up.

Okay, got sump off. Con bearing on cylinder 1 spun and has made a bit of a mess of the crank.
Enough, my GT4 days are over!
