Ive got an issue that has seemed to crop up recently with my oem gauge. When the car idles the gauge indicates positive boost and when any throttle is applied the needle shoots off scale (still vacuum in manifold). Only when feathering the throttle whilst driving can I get it to read -ive. It seems almost too sensitive to throttle movement. I have an HKS boost controller that indicates boost and the engine is fine, it seems to be an indication fault. Usually I would just think nothing of it however Im worried that it may be driven by the ECU rather than directly from the sensor. If this is the case will the ECU be fooled by a bogus sensor and fuel incorrectly?? Sorry Im crap at explaining however I hope you can all help thanks marcus |

My 205 boost gauge has developed a similar fault with it's boost gauge except mine is random, it just seems to wander about all over the place. The test is to check it reads 0 with the engine stopped and ignotion on. In my case, the ECU is(was) reading correctly as the mixture was correct on the AFR gauge so a gauge or wiring but not a sensor fault. Not bothered looking further as it's a long distance motorway car for me. |

Cheers Chris Yea, my meter doesn't read 0 with the ignition on, reads about 2/3 +ive pressure. Which sensor drives the meter then? Is it the drivers side one near the brake booster or is it the pass side one with a couple of inputs, one from the chargecooler and the other from the inlet manifold?? |

The one on drivers side, also known as map sensor which also feeds the ecu. Unlikely to be sensor unless the engines running very rich. the one you mention on passenger side is aircon idle up valve. |

Mine has the problem intermittently, it doesnt affect the car at all from dyno sessions showing the fueling to be typical gtfour mapping and after changing the sensor and still slightly irratic but again, dyno showed no problems with regards to afr's so paid no attention to it since |

Im in the process of ditching Aircon so thats good to know, One less sensor needed in the engine bay. thanks chris/dale |
