Hi all
I have a 1996 GT4 UK car which has developed a water leak in the passenger front footwell the water drips down in the left had corner where some of the electrics are. I have checked the heater matrix and its not that, have had the hose pipe on the bottom part of the windscreen on that side and i can see the water dripping in but can not work out how its getting in ?
Was wondering if any one has had the same problem nows how to fix it before i start pulling the car to bits more.
Any help with this one would be appreciated

If it's not heater matrix, I would guess it's a rust hole, most likely in the floor of the heater intake area below the grille at the bottom of the windscreen.

Yes it does have a sunroof but when i have done a water test i have sprayed it just in the bottom corner of the windscreen no where near the sunroof, i have also had the bonnet up at the same time and the water seems to drain down the inside of passenger front wing, i was wondering if there are any drain holes or seals or something behind the front wing but i did n't want to just start tearing it to bits

try the water on the sun roof, place a sheet of newspaper in the vicinity so you can see any evidence from above, also are the inner wheel arch liners intact as there is a loom bung pretty much behind where the indicator is, worth a look.to look under the carpet is a bit more, remove the 4x seat runner nuts, door seal protector and look under the carpet, all these only take a couple of minutes to do.where on the map are you?

There is a grommet behind the passenger wing that could have come adrift, this would allow water into the footwell.

I wounded if it is a grommet that has come adrift because about a week ago ago i got a punture hitting a pot hole that hard (it knackered the tyre) it was fine before that.
I am taking it that i need to remove the inner wheel arch to get at it ?
My knowledge on gt4's is a little limited, i have only owned it since oct

Removing the wheel arch liner will let you inspect the inner panels to see if there is anything out of place.

Good luck.

I've just remembered hearing about this grommet before, appologies.

My memory was tainted by my sisters Micra which WAS a rust hole.

Yes identified the leak, it is coming in where the wiring comes through the inner wing, the rubber must be perished just need to figure out how to fix it now, will properly just replace it
Any body else had this problem

Haven't heard of that before. I've just removed some rubber plugs from some old ST205 rear subframes and they were still sealed but had lost some of their elasticity. I guess if the rubber grommet/wiring in the wing has been disturbed it could have started leaking with all this heavy rain and flooding we've been having recently.
