Hi guys recently my car has developed a clunk which you can hear and feel in the car which I think is coming from the left rear suspension. It's fairly loud and can be felt every time. It mostly happens when first pulling away to drive or after reversing and when applying the brakes in reverse. I think it also happens when going over speed bumps but it's hard to tell if it's the same clunk or just my shot front control arms which I know need replaced.
Anyone got any advice on this? Thanks for reading guys

Have you checked the brake pads? They often make a 'clonk' noise under the circumstances you describe. Worth check to make sure you have all the P clips and backing pads fitted.

Also worth having a look at the rear anti-roll bar bushes and droplinks.

I have a whiteline arb which was put on about a year ago so I hope the bushes and drop links will still be ok. These would have been replaced at the same time wouldn't they?
I was thinking it might not actually be coming from the wheel and actually be the diff mount. Does that sound at all likely to yous?

The rear diff mount is a common cause of clunking and fortunately one of the cheaper fixes if it is the problem.

The whiteline ARB comes with new bushes if you buy one new but not droplinks, usually they do get replaced as the old ones are a pain to get undone without destroying them but its possible they were not changed.

Have a look around the diff area, its fairly easy to see if the mount is in poor condition.

Mixer is now doing this and selling them.

Diff mount is most likely fit to symptoms.

Drop links and top mounts tend to be more bump related.

Does anyone have a picture of a knackered rear diff mount? Can you tell visually if it needs to be replaced or is it simply the rubber which becomes 'tired'?

The rubber can become soft more elasticity as ive recently found on my doblo large gearbox mount clunking but looks ok
or you can see it coming away from its metal body breaking up/cracking etc which causes excess movement.

It's easily spotted by the center part not being in the center (or attached at all) due to the rubber disintegrating over time.

Haha, great pic! Should be easy to spot even for the untrained eye..... Maybe I should have said semi-knackered?
